Our daughter has a onesie that announces (in Bosnian) she’s a cuddly baby, and it’s increasingly true. Our daughter has recently become very cuddly.
She often puts her nose to your nose and shakes her head left and right, especially if you say “nosy nosy nosy”. It makes everyone smile because it’s pure joy and sweetness from a little person.
Another thing she’s doing is putting her forehead to yours and then lining up her nose to yours, and pushing her head toward yours with an occasional slobbery kiss. This is admittedly a little intense, particularly because she has her eyes open the entire time and looks like a raging bull, but the intent is innocent and cute because she’s showing love and closeness, which is all we can ask for as parents.
This development of warmth from the heart is recent and fascinating. While she’s always been a cuddly sleeper (perhaps unknowingly as she rolls around), she’s become intentionally cuddly at random times throughout day in the ways described earlier, and it’s been interesting to see her seek it out. She’s clearly developing the skill to show affection, which seems to be common at this 7-month mark according to research, and it’s been a joy to see and feel. It makes me look forward to the day when I can give her a big hug without worrying about hurting her little bones.
